Core Purpose To lead on the generation of income including membership drives, development of regular giving programmes, larger donors and one-off fundraising campaigns, on- and off-line.

Supporter drive

  • To lead on the growth of Momentum’s supporter base (including of Labour Party members), in order to further all our campaigns, including small donor fundraising, membership growth and internal party organising
  • To maintain ongoing estimates of the lifetime value of different supporter groups, financial and political
  • To identify target audiences and devise campaigns to attract new supporters
  • To ensure Momentum’s websites are optimised for attracting supporters and converting them into members and donors
  • To work with others in the Comms team to create content to encourage both organic and paid acquisitions
  • To ensure that different groups of supporters receive appropriate email communications and tailored supporter journeys, where appropriate
  • To work with other teams in Momentum to ensure that attracting new supporters forms a key part of all campaigns, work with local groups and event planning
  • Ensure our supporter and member data is up to date and run campaigns with the Digital team to this effect



Membership drive

  • To lead the growth of Momentum’s membership through email, organic and paid social media advertising, through local groups and at major events
  • To write membership recruitment emails and email sequences
  • To increase the contribution of already existing members
  • To work with the Finance Officer on ensuring that our members use the most efficient and appropriate payment systems
  • To work with the Digital team to ensure that our Join page is optimised for conversions, conducting testing as appropriate


Small donor fundraising

  • To lead on developing, testing and optimising our digital fundraising strategy, through email, text, web and online advertising
  • To ensure we meet our targets for donations from small donors, both existing and new
  • To develop strategies to maintain long-term donor engagement
  • To write fundraising emails, and work with other teams to ensure fundraising is incorporated into their activities where appropriate
  • To devise segmented donation strategies relating to engagement levels and donation histories


Other

  • To cooperate with other teams to ensure that all campaigns are optimised towards achieving the desired results, as well as supporting our acquisition, fundraising and membership goals
  • To run Facebook and other online advertising for campaigns
  • Working with others in the team, develop a high donor fundraising strategy
  • Working with others in the team, develop offline fundraising strategies, including events
  • To constantly iterate and innovate, staying up-to-date with best practice and new developments in the field
  • To develop and work with a community of Digital volunteers, to further amplify your work and results
  • To liaise with external consultants, where appropriate, to develop, test and iterate fundraising and growth strategies

Requirements

Essential

  • A highly motivated individual, who is committed to Momentum’s objectives of changing society through the transformation of the Labour Party into a members-led party capable of winning elections and implementing socialist policies.
  • A deep understanding of the politics and messaging of Momentum and other movement organisations
  • Experience using communications across multiple platforms to raise money from small donors, grow the membership of a campaigning organisation or gather data
  • The ability to write economical, clear and on message copy to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work across different projects in a fast paced environment
  • Strong IT skills and experience with communications platforms such as Nationbuilder, Instapage, Wordpress or similar

Desirable

  • Experience working in a member-led organisation that is primarily funded by its members
  • Experience with Momentum, either locally or nationally
  • Experience growing running an integrated membership, small donor and data operation for a member-led organisation
  • Experience with digital communications and specifically optimised email campaigning
  • Experience of developing and implementing high donor fundraising strategies
  • Experience of organising offline fundraising events and activities

Benefits

£25,500 - £29,000 PA inc. London weighting (£22,000 - £25,000 PA outside of London)
